Delicious Orchards, 1 mile down Hwy 133, is an excellent place to pick your own, drink local hard cider and listen to live music on the weekend over a wonderful brunch. There are many pick-your-own peaches, cherries, apples, pears, nectarines and if we are lucky, apricots, in the valley. Since the closing of all the mines but one, today the NFV is home to the largest concentration of organic farms in the state of Colorado as well as becoming a state Creative District serving the multitudes of artist and creatives that call the valley home. Coal mines up the road in Bowie and Somerset paid better, so many of the orchards languished over the years. The valley's climate is a banana belt, perfect for fruit with the cold air coming down from the mountains at night and the heat from the mesas warming up the valley during the day. The North Fork Valley of the Gunnison River, encompassing Crawford, Hotchkiss and Paonia, was an important fruit orchard area in the late 1800's and well into the early 1900's. Wooten in the early 1900's as an apple orchard, Old Moon Acres is now home to Old Moon Acres Tipi Haven. We are excited to have you!įormerly known as the North Fork Tipi Haven, this 22 acres was once owned by International sculptor Lincoln Fox, and built by Mr. In addition, we have a large community bonfire location and there is access to outdoor grilling. All sites have electricity (heaters included), parking, fire pits (unless we are facing a fire ban), and picnic table. We have (14) Yurt glamping sites and (2) Riverfront studio cabins. Our campground offers a dreamy Bathhouse with 5 glamoured showers and 5 bathrooms. Mount Princeton Hot Springs are a beautiful 10.5 mile (15 min) drive away. We are also located 1/2 mile from some of the most famous mountain biking trails the USA offers. If the Arkansas River is not enough of a playground for you, you will be happy to know that you have an uninterrupted view of Mount Princeton and the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Peaks. Not wanting to get that close? No worries watch the paddlers and rafters float by all summer long. ![]() There are (2) 1 Min trails that lead you straight to River Access. Our 5 acre Campground sits right along the Arkansas River. Welcome to our geographic phenomenon! Here at the continental divide we are lucky to have it all for the Outdoor Enthusiast. Come from the west 235 go left under I70 at Starbucks turn right go 1/2 mile first right go back over I 70 to Stanley and harvest moon trail go left up behind mobile homes NOTE THIS IS LOOP DONT TAKE STEEP ROAD (GO TO THE LEFT). When coming from east exit 234 Dumont go left over I 70 to Stanley and then left behind the mobile home. Please do not block the road going up or the residence in the mobile home park on the front of the road. ( Please note ) after tremendous amounts of work on the road, it seems 2wd cars cannot make it and this place is not suitable for those campers. Paddle boarding, train ride through the hillsĪll mining roads can be used for off-road purposes at your own risk. Great views and there is an old mining cabin at the top if you find it please post your pictures! We have portable toilets located close to the units We are also close to st Mary’s Glacier, gold mine tours, great small-town restaurants (Marion’s pizza, Beau Joe’s) We also have some of Colorado’s best fly fishing.Īwesome hikes nearby (Gray's Peak). ![]() Located 10 minutes by car from historic gold town Idaho Springs. All A-frames have heat for the winter months (propane heaters). The road is a loop the backside can have rocks so please drive up in high clearance vehicles no need for crazy lifted just SUV-Trucks typeĪll A-Frames come with a grill and propane (see photos), and there is also a solar motion light on the deck. If you have Awd and keep your speed up you will make it fine. This is a mountain getaway so the roads are dirt.
